Patty Bender—Broker, ABR, CRS, GRI, Notary Public

Born and raised in the Hershey, PA area, Patty worked for the Hershey Foods Corporation for ten years, serving as the first woman to trade commodity futures for the company. Patty’s experience and market knowledge allow her to share and educate her clients—from first time buyers to experienced investor clients.

After relocating to the Lake Norman area in 1998, Patty made the transition into real estate.  Since then, Patty has become one of the top producing agents in Lake Norman, and has sold over $50 million in real estate.  Patty is also one of the principle owners of the Keller Williams office in Mooresville and Cornelius. Patty and Bruce live with their Brittany, Schrader, on Lake Norman. On warm summer days, they enjoy boating and riding their Harley.

Bruce Bender—Broker, ABR
Bruce Bender likes to be part of winning teams.  He served his country during a 20 year career with the Army National Guard.  He can also relate to the NASCAR experience and the demands on its employees. During a 16 year career in motorsports, Bruce served many roles on racing teams, from tire changer to fabricator, for NASCAR drivers such as Bill  Elliott, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Michael Waltrip, and Kasey Kahne.
Bruce has now turned his competitive spirit to the racing world to the real estate world.  A buyer’s and seller’s agent, Bruce has built on the experiences from his wife, Patty Bender, to meet the needs of clients—whether they are a first time buyer or retiree. After moving from his native central Pennsylvania, he understands the difficulties of relocation. The son of a home builder, Bruce has managed rental properties for many years, and particularly enjoys working with investors.

Bud Katter—Buyer Agent, Broker, SRES

After spending 27 years on Lake Wylie, Bud moved upstream to Lake Norman in 2005, and built a downsized house for his tennis-devotee-wife, Marlene. He has built, bought, and sold many houses during his 23 year career as a Senior Product Manager responsible for developing new IBM computer-based products around the US and abroad. Upon selection by IBM, he joined the academic world for a 15 year career teaching computer and graduate business education courses at Winthrop and Wingate Universities.  He continues to teach: boating safety courses in the Lake Norman Sail and Power Squadron, Human Resources Management to business owners in Siauliai, Lithuania and lay counseling to trainees in his church’s Stephen Ministry  program.

Bud’s philosophy of working with clients is heavily involved in listening to their housing needs and wants; and then taking direction relative to what’s appropriate to each individual family unit. He can then show the clients the house they want the most and help them to become the proud new owners.  The result is a Win-Win for the client and our team.

Hadley Smith—Marketing and Administrative Manager
Before relocating to the Lake Norman area in 2003, Hadley Smith worked in the fashion industry in Los Angeles, as an owner and designer of a women’s contemporary clothing line. Hadley was responsible for overseeing the entire production process—from design concept through production and shipping of finished goods. Her line was sold in small boutiques in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Japan.
Since moving to North Carolina, Hadley worked as an Office Manager at a corporate promotions company before jumping into real estate. Now, as the Marketing and Administrative Manager of The Patty Bender Team, Hadley’s years of experience working in the fashion business, coupled with her experience overseeing the operations of a corporate office, makes her qualified to handle the unpredictable situations that arise in the real estate market.
